Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at U.S. Bank.
Product Manager Intern
The interview process consisted of general behavior questions. They asked about situational questions, such as 'Tell me about a time you had to navigate a problem.' Using the STAR method was really effective for these types of questions.
- Can you share an instance where you had to deal with a problem?
- Describe a situation where team members' opinions were not all taken into account during a project.
Technical Product Manager
So I urge you to stay away from working with a recruiter to get a position here. I had a terrible experience with Apex Consulting. I had a 30 minute interview with Barb. The interview went well. I was offered the position and accepted it, and in doing so turned down a separate offer elsewhere. My start date approached and suddenly, it was delayed. It is now June 25th and they have told me that there is no longer a position. So I've not only lost an opportunity I had and could have started at this point BUT, I've lost out on a month of job searching and applying that I could have done. Avoid at all costs. The company has terrible foresight if they are able to sign someone on and take it away out of nowhere. I signed all of the onboarding paperwork. I even had to fly home from a vacation early to drive out and get fingerprinting done for the background check.
- The interview questions themselves were very standard, and the interviewer was nice.
Product Manager
I went through 11 interviews over 2 months. I was told the final candidate would reach the C-Suite and then enter offer negotiations. I interviewed with the C-Suite in early April, and it's been dead silence since, even though the interview went very well. I followed up several times with no reply. This is after receiving great feedback throughout the 11 interviews. US Bank reached out to me on LinkedIn, I didn't even apply. You'd think after 11 interviews, the recruiter would at least have the decency to follow up.
- Can you tell me about your experience with APIs?
- How would you describe your people management style?
