First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Trane Technologies.
Project Administrator
I applied online and then got scheduled for a phone interview. This recruiter interview was one of the worst I've ever experienced. She asked if I had researched the company. I told her I had looked into it before the interview since I hadn't heard of them before. She said ok great and then just repeated everything from the company website. When she asked about my salary expectations, I said 68,500. She then commented that it was specific and she'd never heard such a precise number. That struck me as odd. She inquired about my current work situation, and at the time, I was a furloughed government contractor. She responded with, "you could’ve just said laid off." The entire unpleasant experience lasted under 15 minutes. I knew I wouldn't get the job, and honestly, I didn't want it after that. Three days later, I got a rejection email.

React Developer
I had a really good interview with Trane Technologies in Chennai. As I have a career gap, I was worried about it, but Trane made me feel good and valued. They focused on my skills, potential, and attitude instead of my resume gap. The interviewers were polite and professional. I could speak freely without feeling pressured or judged. The conversation felt natural and supportive, and I didn't feel like I was lacking anything. This helped me stay confident and show my best. It was one of the most respectful and empowering interviews I've had. Big thanks to the Trane team for creating a positive environment. You leave with a good feeling regardless of the outcome.
- Can you answer a basic question about JavaScript and another about React?
Project Manager
I applied on the company site and a recruiter contacted me on Monday to set up a video chat with the hiring manager for Wednesday. The hiring manager mentioned they were hiring for 4 positions and creating a new team. They asked some general questions like 'tell me about yourself' and a few situational questions about what I'd do in certain scenarios. The manager seemed really interested, but it's been 3 weeks and I haven't heard back, even after following up with the recruiter. The Trane Technology team was at a career fair for women in manufacturing, and while other companies responded, Trane didn't reply to me or others. I'm not sure if they realize that communication is a two-way street.
- Can you tell me about yourself and describe your previous role?
Sales Administrator
The hiring process started with an initial screening call with an HR recruiter. Following that, I was scheduled for a 60-minute virtual panel interview that took place a week later. The interview featured three interviewers who took turns asking questions. It felt quite intense. This interview style was different from what I'm used to, as they specifically requested answers using the STAR method. Despite feeling like I answered all the questions well, I ultimately wasn't selected for the role.
- They largely presented an example scenario and inquired about a similar situation you encountered and how you addressed it.
