I had an interview with 2 managers who were really friendly. They asked me some great questions about how I approach servicing customers. They really emphasized the company culture, saying it's very welcoming, and they even shared why they chose my application.

I had multiple interactions with the talent recruiter, and they were very professional, responsive, and helpful with timely follow-ups and answers. The interview with the hiring manager went well, as did the technical panel. However, I didn't feel a strong connection with the director during the fourth interview. I noticed everyone I interacted with was significantly younger than me, and I wonder if this difference in experience levels contributed to that disconnect.

I got contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn and had a quick 20-minute call. After that, they scheduled an hour-long video interview for two days later. The first half involved me talking about a past experience and how I handled it, followed by a coding challenge to create a tabbed web component. A few days after that, I had a three-hour panel interview with several developers. They asked more experience-based questions and then gave me coding challenges, including button manipulation, backend calls/routes, and building a carousel from scratch with vanilla JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Although I didn't get the role after a few days, the interviewers were really nice and the atmosphere was chill. I learned a lot about my own skills and where I need to improve. It looks like a great company, and whoever gets an offer there will be lucky.

  • Explain backend routes that interact with a database.

Behavioral Technical

I had an initial chat with the recruiter. Then, the hiring manager called me for a phone interview. After that, I went onsite for a two-part interview. First, I met with the hiring manager alone. Then, I had an interview with two other people, one of whom was a Sr. Analyst and the other was the head of Operations. The interview went well overall, though the hiring manager seemed a bit down about the job and the company's systems and processes. She even apologized for being negative and made a comment about my resume format, which I thought was unnecessary. Given how positive Zappos is supposed to be, I was surprised by the attitude, especially since I was excited about the possibility of working there and even considered a pay cut. I could tell she wasn't going to be my manager. I hope the person who got the job is successful! They asked some questions, like 'what would your fight song be', to try and keep up Zappos' culture vibe. But honestly, I didn't really feel that from most people I met. It felt a bit formal and old-fashioned, not the unique and embracing culture I expected.

Given an integer N, find the smallest "zero-one" integer S that is a multiple of N. A "zero-one" integer is one whose base-ten representation only includes zeros and ones. We are guaranteed that such an S always exists for any N. Constraints: 0 < N < 100,000. For example, if N=4, the output should be 100.
