It was very processed driven and typical of large CPG companies. It started with several phone screens and then moved to an in-person interview. The questions were very vanilla with the hope you answer in the STAR method. More junior employees clearly had the questions prepped from HR or whatever training they went though. More senior members asked questions specific to the role.

I recently applied for the Associate Manager of Technical Training position and it seems like this company really values a degree above everything else. Even though I have 28 years of hands-on experience that covers everything in the job description, my application got stopped because I don't have a formal degree. The phone screen started with a question about my ability to commute, which I said was fine. But then they asked about my education. I told them I have a high school diploma, 20 years of specialized training, and 28 years of practical experience. That's where the conversation ended because the company requires a degree in any field plus 5 years of experience. This makes me wonder what a degree really shows: like completion of a program, intellectual capacity, commitment, or a skill set. It's a shame they didn't consider my many years of experience because I didn't go to college. I think real-world experience, especially over decades, is super valuable and should be considered just as much as formal education.

I submitted an online application and was contacted by a recruiter named Alan Wilson. He requested that I schedule a phone screening from his availability, which I did the same day. I set it for the following Monday and confirmed with him who would initiate the call and the correct time zone. I took time off work for the interview, but Alan never called. After waiting about 20 minutes, I called his voicemail and left a message asking to reschedule. He never called back to reschedule or apologize for my wasted time. Based on this experience with Campbell's recruiters, I'd advise staying away from the company as it doesn't seem to respect people's time and effort.

Even though a current Campbell's employee suggested I apply for a role they thought I'd be good for and qualified for, the recruiter's screening call was a letdown. Instead of a normal call, I was told I was underqualified and informed about typical candidate qualifications. I barely got to explain my current and past roles, skills, and industry knowledge before the recruiter assumed my skills weren't transferable because they came from a different company and background. Skills in this field are usually transferable with a new perspective and some training. My advice is for Hiring Managers and Recruiters to discuss open roles more before talking to candidates to make sure everyone's on the same page.
