Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Campbell's Company.
Finance Manager
The interview steps might differ depending on the specific team, the exact job, and the business area supporting it. You might begin with a chat with the hiring manager, or it could be with the recruiter first, who helps screen people and suggests who the hiring manager should talk to.
- How would you handle stakeholders who are difficult to work with?
Finance Manager
My interview experience was surprisingly and shockingly poor, especially given my expectations for the company. The process began with a quick screener from HR. Then, I had to complete a case study with a very short 24-hour turnaround time. The final stage was a lengthy 3-hour in-person interview, divided into one-hour slots with two interviewers each, meaning I spoke with six people in total. The intensity of the back-to-back interviews felt more like interviewing for a role at NASA than for a company that produces soup and crackers. The entire process was long and felt extremely impersonal. Instead of focusing on getting to know me as a person, they stuck to a script of questions like 'tell me a time when...' for the full three hours, as others have noted. It was surprisingly lazy and drawn out. I ultimately withdrew from the process partly because of the poor interview experience, but also because I didn't really connect with the potential boss and was put off by the lack of diversity.
- Can you share an instance where you... (describe a general scenario)?
Finance Manager
It was a pretty standard process with a few rounds. Mostly leadership and behavioral questions, not too many technical ones. They really focused on their core values and how I would align with them. I felt like the interviews went really well, but then I never heard back.
- Can you share an instance when you had to inspire and foster optimism within your team or department?
