Marketing Manager
I applied online and then got an email to schedule a phone screen. The day of the interview, the HR person didn't show up or call. I had to call the HR hotline to reschedule for the next day. This time HR did show up but didn't apologize or acknowledge ghosting me the day before. Then I was invited to a video interview with the hiring manager. She seemed like she was just checking a box because they had someone internal already. After 3 weeks, there was no follow-up.
- What would others say about your work style?
Marketing Manager
I interviewed at the NSHMBA conference. It started with a phone screening by HR, who wanted to learn about me and share details about the company. Super easy. At the conference itself, I had an in-person interview with the Senior Brand Manager. He was great to chat with. If you're really into the food industry and have done your homework, it'll definitely come across. He asked standard questions like 'tell me about yourself,' 'Why Campbell?,' 'Why marketing?,' about my leadership experience, and my areas for improvement. There was also a marketing case involving one of their products, and he really liked that I was familiar with the product and started the analysis from the consumer's perspective. The interview wrapped up with time for my questions. I then had another interview with a Brand Manager at their booth, which was similar, covering some initial questions and then a case (this time about a different product). If you know who your interviewers are beforehand, definitely research the brands they manage.
- What are your reasons for wanting to work at Campbell?
Marketing Manager
It was a pretty standard CPG marketing interview process. I had a long panel interview day where I met with 7 different people for about an hour each. I spoke with folks from new products, category managers, brand managers, brand directors, and even some associate-level people. It was mostly a good experience, but one director was kind of condescending about where I went to business school and because I didn't have typical CPG experience like from Kraft or P&G. In the end, they said I didn't get the job because I lacked product commercialization experience and they weren't willing to train me. Honestly, they could have saved the money on my travel and hotel, plus our time, if they'd just looked at my resume.
- Can you share an example of a product you commercialized?
