Software Engineer
The interview experience felt a bit impersonal because I didn't get to talk to HR to understand the role better, which was a bit unusual, even though I reached the virtual onsite. I've always admired Stripe, so I continued, but it seems a bit presumptuous to expect candidates to go through the whole interview process without clear details about the job or its conditions. The technical interviews were good, though. The engineers were nice and professional, and the questions were relevant, focusing on practical, everyday coding rather than tricky puzzles. It felt more like collaborative programming than an assessment. I knew I didn't get the job because I struggled in one of the virtual onsite rounds. I got an automated rejection, which is preferable to being ghosted, but it still made the process feel impersonal and like the candidate wasn't valued after spending 5 hours on technical interviews. I even reached out to the recruiter for feedback to help me improve, but I never heard back.

Business Development Representative
The interview process was pretty good overall, it felt very human and pleasant. The interviewers were top-notch, super personable and professional. They actually helped me succeed by giving tips for the next steps, it felt like they wanted me to do well, not trying to trick me. The only downside was that the internal coordination seemed a bit slow, there was a noticeable delay in hearing back between rounds. So, just be prepared to be patient with the scheduling/follow-up side of things.

Product Management Director
I had a really strange interview call with a Stripe recruiter that I wanted to share. It was overall a very disrespectful, condescending, and uncalled-for experience. It's unfortunate that the company is developing this image and brand for their interviews. I'm submitting this for awareness so the company can coach their recruiters to handle these conversations with more grace and respect. Some key things I noticed: 1. The overall tone felt condescending and discouraging, not evaluative or constructive. 2. They mentioned that candidates who have already passed interviews at companies like Google or Meta are typically the ones who are a better fit for Stripe, implying that prior success at those companies is an expected signal of readiness. 3. They stated that my tenure at a tech company suggested I hadn’t interviewed elsewhere and therefore would likely not be a fit for this position. 4. They emphasized that Stripe’s interview process is tougher than Google or Meta’s, and that based on his assessment, I would not be successful in the process. 5. During a question about designing a system, when I began outlining my framework for approaching the problem, they interrupted and said I was not answering the question they was asking, and that based on my response, I would not pass the interview and that he did not want to waste my time. 6. They also commented that the fact I expressed confidence rather than fear or intimidation about Stripe’s interview process suggested that I did not fully understand the rigor of the process. 7. They asked whether I knew someone in Product at Stripe who could explain the interview process to me, implying that internal context or connections would be important for preparation.

Backend Software Engineer
Extremely unprofessional conclusion to a demanding interview process. I participated in multiple rounds of interviews including a recruiter screen, technical screen, and super day with 4 interviews (3 technical, 1 behavioral). The interviews were difficult but fair and allowed candidates to showcase a range of skills used every day in software engineering. After my final round, I was told that I passed the interviews and received positive feedback from the team, but that they were "waiting for more headcount to open up" and we would continue with the team match process at that point. Stripe reposted the same job listing a month later, indicating that more headcount opened, and I reached out to follow up. I have now reached out multiple times over email and phone but have been completely ignored. After the time commitment for both me and the employees who interviewed me, a proper rejection is the least Stripe could do. The conclusion of this interview process has been completely unprofessional.
