QA Intern
I applied for a QA Intern role two years ago. It was my first interview in the IT field. They asked me several questions about skills and projects I had worked on. The English part was challenging, but I managed. I asked if I would get a call back, but I never did. They ghosted me. I sent several emails to the company and the recruiter, but I never got a response. I didn't like how the company handled it or their commitment because I had prepared for the interview.
- What experience do you have in QA?
- Do you know about automated testing?
- Do you know about unit testing and other types of testing?
Business Development Representative
So, I got this message from someone at the company about a job. I wasn't really looking to switch jobs, but I figured I'd hear them out. We had a video call first, and they said they were looking for someone with my experience and over two years in the field. I told them my salary expectations upfront, and they said it fit their budget. It sounded promising, so I decided to apply officially. After applying, I had a second interview with someone from Talent Acquisition. That's when it turned out the role was actually more junior/entry-level, and the salary they offered was about $15k less than we initially discussed, and way lower than I wanted. It felt like they weren't on the same page internally, and it wasn't very upfront from the start. The whole thing seemed disorganized and not what I was led to believe.
- Can you tell me about your sales background?
- What's your experience in business development?
Administrative Assistant
So, like, two or three weeks after I applied for an Administrative Assistant job, I got an email asking me to do an online assessment, which I did pretty soon after. Then, they set up a phone interview with a recruiter. I felt like the phone interview went really well, and I got super excited about the job and the company. It was on a Friday, and they said I'd hear about the next steps by Monday at the latest, and to email them if I didn't. I still hadn't heard anything by Monday afternoon, so I sent a follow-up email. No response. I figured maybe they missed it, so I sent another email a couple of days later, and still nothing. I was pretty bummed out to be ghosted like that, especially since they told me to follow up. It would've been nice to at least get a generic email saying they went with other candidates. It definitely gave me a bad impression of SOVOS, and I don't think I'll waste my time interviewing there again.
- Can you discuss your professional background and explain how it prepares you for this role?
Compliance Specialist
The interview process was quite transparent and straightforward, with a clear offer and growth path outlined. We discussed benefits, company policies, and inclusiveness. The possibility of remote or office work and travel was also covered. The interviewer answered all my questions. While I felt the offer was a bit low for the function, the fact that it's fully remote does compensate for the salary difference.
- What are your salary expectations?
