Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sovos.
Marketing
I had a really good experience interviewing with Sovos. They kept in touch and were super professional. First, a recruiter called me. Then, I had to take a professional employment test over Skype, which included things like cognitive reasoning and math. There was also an aptitude test where I had to pick words that best describe me. After that, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager, followed by calls or Skype chats with team members. Then, I went in for an in-person interview with the hiring manager, and later met the team. The last step was another meeting with the hiring manager. It felt like my time was well spent, and I felt accomplished.
- The questions were straightforward.
- No tricky hypothetical questions like 'if you travel on a bridge at 30 MPH'.

It started out really well, the recruiter was super responsive and helpful. The assessments and video interview were what other people mentioned. Then there were a bunch of phone interviews with folks in different offices across the country. One person was nice and seemed engaged, but didn't really have a clear idea or direction for this role. The other was kind of harsh, saying they were looking for 'talent, not experience.' All this happened within two weeks of applying. After that, like others have noted, communication just stopped. Even though they said they'd give quick updates, I didn't hear anything after the last interview. The job was posted again, and it took another two weeks to get any kind of response about my status. The response I finally got was a generic email thanking me for coming into the office, even though all my interviews were remote. I also didn't get any feedback on why I wasn't selected, which would have been helpful for future applications. What began as a positive experience really soured in the end, and I'm actually glad they went with other candidates.
- Basic interview questions.
- Some about your experience.
- Some about handling of various different scenarios, both past actual and potential future.

I applied online and after a few days, I got an email to take an online aptitude test. I completed it. Then, I received another email asking me to retake the same aptitude test but this time with the recruiter watching. After that, there was a quick on-camera interview. That's it, I never heard back from them. It's a really bad candidate experience when they don't respond.
- Was there an aptitude test?
- Did you have to retake the aptitude test with a recruiter watching?
- Did you have a brief on-camera interview?
