& Process

Had an initial chat with the recruiter that went great and they mentioned they really want to hire someone fast, so they asked if I could interview again the very next day. The next day I interviewed with a team member who had only been at the company for 3 months. The interview felt a bit disorganized, mostly focusing on questions about standard AWS services, Terraform, Git, and CI/CD. After that, I was ghosted and didn't get any feedback.

The whole process happened quite quickly. I submitted my application in September however they took a while to send the online assessment. I received an online interview offer within a week of completing the online assessment and then I received an invite to the assessment centre within a week of completing my interview. However, it took a while to hear back from them. The whole process wasn’t too bad. Consisted of a presentation and interview which was quite long, took about an hour. They asked a range of different questions including competency and technical questions. Then there was a group task which was actually quite fun. The group task consisted of building a bridge out of random objects given to you that needed to be strong enough to hold the weight of beanbags.

Initially, I was told it would be a three-round process. But then things got a bit messy with scheduling, so it was hard to follow. I did the first interview, and they said I passed. Then, more interviews were scheduled because of when people were free, and in the end, there were three interviews in total. It wasn't clear which one was which 'round,' or if the plan changed. The actual interviews were good, though. The interviewers seemed interested in my experience with different client portfolios, and talking to the business people was positive. However, the communication and organization around the interviews were not great. It felt like an outside agency was handling HR, and there wasn't much clarity on the order of interviews, updates, or what was next. A few times, they said HR had to check with the business team before getting back to me. My follow-up emails often didn't get quick replies, which made it hard to know where I stood and caused some stress. So, while the interviews themselves were fine, the lack of clear communication and ownership from HR really impacted the overall experience.

Had two rounds of technical interviews. They were pretty challenging with Java and design questions, focusing more on how you think and understand things rather than just code syntax. It's important to brush up on your basic knowledge and software development concepts. Things like SOLID, AT/DT, and SCRUM might come up. Both interviews were about an hour long and followed a similar format.
