First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MetLife.
Infrastructure Engineer
Applied online and then had my first interview about two weeks later. The whole process was pretty straightforward. They had me do an online assessment beforehand, which they said was to see how I handle working under pressure. The interview itself had the Hiring Manager, the Head of Infrastructure, and a few team members – four people in total. I noticed they were all from India or Bangladesh. The DevOps people had a pretty thick accent, which made it a bit tough to understand them and added to the challenge. The vibe felt a little off, maybe a bit toxic, like a typical top-down management style.
- Can you discuss Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and provide examples of its implementation in your past projects?
Lead Engineer
Got a random call from outsourced HR, she left a voicemail. It took a while to reach her back since she ghosted me on a scheduled call and then came back with excuses. Her voicemail was super unprofessional and embarrassing for Metlife. HR even said 'ewww' on the phone once she knew I was American-born. I felt like I wasn't wanted because of my nationality. I saw a review saying Metlife is pushing out American workers and hiring foreigners from India instead. Her negative tone totally fits with that review. I've spoken to several HR people at this company, all unprofessional and from India.
- Can you relocate to Cary?
Software Development Engineer
The interview process was pretty good, it had 4 rounds of interviews. The first round was DSA and SpringBoot Application. The second round was SpringBoot Applications and Scaling of application , Kubernetes etc. The third round was DSA and Projects. The fourth round was CI/CD Pipelines.

Billing and Remittance Coordinator
The HR process was really unprofessional. They rang me on Thursday evening to confirm the interview for Sunday and said they'd send details. But, they only messaged on Sunday and rescheduled to Monday. After the first interview, they called me for a second round the next day. It's been two months since then and I've heard nothing back, even after chasing them up loads. They totally ghosted me. I even had to take time off work for these interviews – such a waste. Overall, a big letdown and really unprofessional for a place calling itself a 'Great Place to Work.'
