MetLife Finance Consultant Interview Questions
& Process

This interview process is long and pretty intense. First, there's an initial chat with a manager or HR person to go over the job. After that, you gotta do an online test. Once you're done with the test, they review it with you. Then, you sit down with a manager for a Q&A session where you give your best answers. If the district manager likes what they see, you're on your way. Next up, you start taking tests to get certified as a financial rep, covering Life & Health, Series 6, and Series 7. Oh, and you also need to do 10 initial appointments with a manager before you're officially hired.

I ran into a MetLife recruiter at a career fair in Knoxville, TN. After a brief chat about my interest in the financial services industry, the recruiter mentioned some opportunities at MetLife, took my resume, and I heard back a week later. The recruiter asked if I'd be open to a phone interview with a local branch manager. Following that initial call, the branch manager had me complete an online application and a virtual job tryout simulation. About two weeks after that, the recruiter contacted me again to set up a second interview, this time one-on-one with the District Manager. After interviewing with the DM, he asked if I wanted to proceed with MetLife and gave me a Due Diligence package.

I got contacted by a recruiter over the phone and they asked some basic intro questions, like 'tell me a little bit about yourself'. Then I had to take this 'Virtual Job Tryout' (VJT) test that lasted about 90 minutes. The next morning, I had an exploratory interview. In that meeting, the same recruiter went over my VJT results and told me about MetLife. After that, I met with their regional recruiting officer. She talked more about what Metlife does for customers and also reviewed my VJT results with me. She really emphasized the variety of products and services Metlife offers, but didn't dive deep into any specific ones. She didn't ask any really 'technical' questions, but I felt like she was checking if I understood her presentation. Then, I met a Sales Director from one of the offices, and we scheduled another meeting for the following week to discuss compensation, benefits, and work schedule. During the whole process, I had plenty of opportunities to ask questions about things like company culture and how to find clients. The whole thing felt pretty straightforward and I understood what they were explaining.
