& Process

The interview had two rounds: a technical one and a behavioral one. The technical round focused on discussing projects from my resume, reviewing an OA question, and solving a LeetCode dynamic programming problem. In the behavioral round, the manager talked about the role and the company, then asked some general questions like how I handle tight deadlines and why I'm interested in MathWorks.

So I applied, and then got an automated email with links for a coding assessment and a recorded video interview. The coding assessment had three parts: first, a mandatory math and analytical reasoning section, which was pretty straightforward. Then, you had to pick one of two optional sections: either a MATLAB section with about 35 syntax-based questions, OR a coding section with three problems, one easy and two medium LeetCode style. I used C++ for the coding section. The video interview had three questions: why Mathworks, why you'd be a good fit, and some visa/immigration stuff. You get 30 seconds to prep and 1 minute to record, with one retake allowed if you mess up. After that, I had a 30-minute call with the manager, followed by a 4-hour interview session. This session included a 2-hour technical deep dive, a 45-minute manager chat, and a 45-minute HR chat. The technical part covered my resume, past projects, and a detailed review of my Hackerrank submissions (I did both MATLAB and C++ parts, but they only asked about the C++ one). Even though my background is EE, strong coding skills and basic DSA knowledge (like Big O notation) are essential. They then had a live coding test with a LeetCode medium problem. The manager round involved behavioral questions like 'tell me about a challenge you faced'. The HR round also had behavioral questions, such as 'how do you like to stay organized?'. I received a call offering me the job within three days of the final round.

It was an on-campus opportunity. Round 1 was a Group Discussion on 'Social Media: Boon or Bane'. This round is super important because it's eliminatory, and I was the only one who passed from my room. Round 2 was a Technomanagerial round covering my projects, technical stuff, and HR questions. Round 3 focused on Technical Depth, specifically OOPS and DSA in C++, with a deep dive into how C++ works internally. Unfortunately, I didn't get selected because I messed up Round 3.

I only reached the automatic online assessment (OA) stage. This stage had two parts: a behavioral assessment with common questions like discussing resume projects, leadership experience, motivation for the role, and visa sponsorship, and a HackerRank technical OA. The technical OA included logical thinking questions and a choice between coding questions in MATLAB or general LeetCode-style problems.
