Software Engineer in Test
Applied in early Feb and got an OA right away with 2 LC questions (graph and intervals) and some Matlab MCQs. Then, a 15-min call with the manager to chat about the company and ask BQ/resume questions. Finally, 3 back-to-back interviews over 4 hours: Technical (OOP, LC style, projects), Manager (behavioral), and HR (behavioral). The whole thing was super smooth, and I got a verbal offer in 3 days, then the formal one. Took about two months.
- Could you tell me about a project from your resume that you worked on?
- Can you explain a project from your resume?
- Walk me through one of the projects listed on your resume.
Software Engineer In Test
A hiring manager initially called me for both HR and technical phone interviews. After that, I had another phone interview with HR. Then, I was invited for an onsite interview. About 15 days post-onsite (which included a 45-minute presentation and 5 interview rounds), they mentioned positive feedback but noted my background wasn't a perfect fit for the role. They then suggested considering me for the same position under a different manager. This led to another tech phone interview focusing on C & C++. Four days later, I interviewed for a different role I wasn't familiar with. Finally, four days after that, they emailed to say the first position was filled internally and I wasn't a good background match for the second position.
- Regarding MATLAB, can you explain the difference between functions and scripts?
- What is the try-catch function in MATLAB?
- Could you discuss optimization techniques in MATLAB, such as vectorization and zero initialization?
