First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mars.
Intern
There were 2 rounds for the interview. The first interview was with HR. The second interview was with the manager I would be working under. Since it was for an internship, questions mainly revolved around a more in-depth explanation of my background (previous internships I had also done) and why I wanted to intern at Mars. For the second and final round, it was less an interview and more an explanation of my expected role as a part of the team.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Why were you interested in interning at Mars?
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
The interview process was pretty rough. First, I got an email saying I needed to prepare a PowerPoint presentation about myself, my hobbies (which was weird), my career path, and why I'm a good fit for the job. Then, I'd have 90 minutes in a prep room to work on a case study and update my presentation on my own laptop. After that, I'd present it to a panel of four people plus an HR rep. Honestly, this felt like way too much for an entry-level factory job. When I got there, the reception was cold, and they asked some awkward small talk questions before sending me to the prep room. I was told to knock when I was ready. During the presentation, it was the same vibe – uninterested faces, some people scrolling on their phones. They didn't react or ask anything about my presentation afterward. The HR person was really unprofessional and seemed incompetent, repeatedly asking the same questions and getting annoyed when my answers were consistent. She wasn't adding anything useful, just talking to fill time. After about ten minutes of me explaining why I wanted to join (even though I didn't, I was just exploring), they asked if anyone had further questions, and when they didn't, they just wished me luck and sent me out. They didn't even give me a chance to ask my own questions, which is pretty standard. To top it off, they had me leave through secure doors that needed an employee ID, so I had to ask a stranger for help to get out, lol. It really felt like a reflection of Mars Egypt's culture – arrogant, unwelcoming, and unwilling to listen, with an incompetent HR person making it even worse. It felt toxic and unsupportive.

Senior National Account Manager
I interviewed for a role on the Walmart team in Bentonville, AR. First, I spoke with a recruiter, then I had a second interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager then contacted my current supervisor and discussed our interview extensively, which unfortunately led to my termination. I was fortunate to receive another job offer shortly after, limiting my unemployment to a few weeks. If you're currently unemployed, you might consider interviewing with Mars, but if you're employed and value discretion, proceed with extreme caution.
- The first two interviews involved more casual questions.
- The panel interviews consisted of typical behavioral questions.
Cloud Automation Architect
The hiring process was long with many stages, but they were clear. The final stage was a panel interview with 3 people: my potential manager and 2 stakeholders. They were nice and made me feel comfortable. But, they weren't clear about what they were looking for. They had my resume and knew my technical background, yet they wanted someone with a completely different experience, which felt like a waste of time. Also, they initially said it was a work-from-home role, but that changed by the end. They really need to be upfront about all requirements and give correct info from the start. The hiring manager also didn't have the final say; I heard he liked me, but the others had doubts.
- What do you see as the two main difficulties in this role?
- How would you handle a situation where two clients disagree?
- Can you detail the automation process you created, including the technologies involved?
