Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mars.
Manager
It was a pretty long process, with 4 interviews spread out over 2 months. The people I met were all really nice and the company's 5 principles kept coming up a lot. This is a company that really values its principles, and you can see that in the panel questions and the overall culture. I liked it.
- What are your career aspirations?
Commercial Manager
It was a 2 stage interview process, with HR and the hiring manager. Everything was done remotely via phone or Teams. The questions were competency-based. They had good communication throughout and kept me informed at every stage. The process moved fairly quickly from application to offer.
- Can you share an experience of managing conflict?
- How have you handled navigating complex organizations?
Senior Manager
The interview process was all over the place, it took forever (months) and was super unprofessional. The interviews didn't have much substance, and the interviewers were always late and had to cut interviews short twice because they had other meetings. Some interviewers couldn't even answer basic questions about what they were working on, their responsibilities, or what was expected of them. Even the hiring manager wasn't helpful with simple stuff like providing details about the standard benefits package.
- Can you tell me about a project in [specific field of work] that you've managed before?
