First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kaiser Permanente.
Marketing Automation Consultant
The process started with a call from a recruiter to screen me for the role. Then I had an interview with the hiring manager. She was really nice and paid attention to what I said. She had a list of questions that fit the job well, so the interview was focused and useful.
- Can you discuss your past work history and how it relates to this position?
- In a scenario like the one described in the job description, what would you do?
- Tell me about your background in marketing automation.
Operations
First interview was virtual with the reporting manager. It was technical, asking about my skills and systems knowledge. Second interview was in person with the reporting manager. This one was more strategic, asking how I'd apply my skills to the team and requiring examples. Third interview was a panel with the team, focusing on team fit, handling pressure, and conflict resolution.
- Tell me about how you manage pressure.
Registered Nurse
I had about a 30 minute chat with one of the managers. They asked me a bunch of scenario-based critical thinking questions. The only one that wasn't really behavioral was the standard 'tell me about yourself.' It was okay, but since I've worked in the ER for 6 years, I was ready for the scenario questions about who to prioritize and what to expect a doctor to order based on symptoms.
- For an elderly patient presenting with a coccyx wound, tachycardia, and fever, what would you anticipate a doctor ordering?
- Tell me about yourself.
Patient Financial Advisor
I applied for the role and got contacted by the recruiter within a week after clearing the skills test. The manager then reached out a few days later to set up a panel interview. After being identified as a top candidate, I was invited for an in-person walkthrough. The experience was quite unprofessional; they seemed disorganized and eager for me to finish quickly. I was expecting to hear back about the position in a few days, but I received a rejection email the very next day. I guess it's for the best.
- Describe a situation where you had a conflict with a colleague and explain how you managed it.
