First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Flix.
Senior Android Engineer
So I had 4 interviews. First was an HR chat about team fit. Then, I had a team-fit chat with two engineers. After that, there was a take-home task where they said 'make it production level' and 'you can spend as much time as you want up to a week'. I went above and beyond on the task, adding more than they asked for. The technical interview involved two developers from the team watching me explain the project. They barely asked anything, and one even left the meeting briefly. A week later, I got a rejection saying the task was over-engineered, I delivered too much, and I seemed more mid-level than senior. Makes you wonder why some companies post so many openings.
- Could you describe your team's code review process?
- How do you collaborate with other teams?
- What is the distinction between "by remember" and "= remember" in Compose?
Software Engineer
So the interview process was pretty structured and seemed legit at first. It kicked off with an HR chat, then I got this coding challenge to do over seven days. Once I sent it back, I had a general chat with a senior engineer and a product owner. After that, two developers and I did a technical deep dive on that same challenge. I was supposed to talk to the Engineering Manager next, but before that, I got this quick 'feedback call.' They told me that even though the team's feedback was 'super positive,' they suddenly had 'technical doubts.' They never brought up these doubts during the actual interviews, which made the end result feel fake and not upfront. The sudden switch in how they communicated makes me wonder about how honest the company is and if their hiring process is really that coordinated.
- Can you discuss application monitoring?
- How do you handle deployment and delivery processes?
- What are your general development practices?
Internal Communications Manager
Applied on March 28th and got the first round invite exactly a month later. The HR manager was great, explained the delay and the role's current situation. She said I was a good fit and promised a second round with a case study presentation to the hiring managers. But then, I got a standard rejection from a recruiting email ID, not her directly. It said they found stronger matches, which is fine, but candidates deserve basic respect, especially after being assured of further rounds. Being blown off with an automated email instead of a personal one from the interviewer isn't good for employer branding.
- Can you share some details about your background?
- What are your thoughts on the nature of this position?
BI Analyst
The process was super clear and everyone was really professional and transparent from the start. First round was with the recruiter, then a second round with the manager and some data team folks where they asked technical/conceptual stuff about SQL, Power BI, and data management. They also gave me a case study to present, but I got so many questions about my SQL code that there was no time left to actually present it. They spent like 15 minutes asking why I joined the table, and they clearly knew the answer already, which felt like a trap. I still don't get it.
- Can you describe your typical day-to-day tasks at FLIX?
- What are some key performance indicators you believe are analyzed within the price intelligence department?
- What has been your most significant challenge when working with Python?
