I got an invite to chat with a recruiter about a month out, then an invite to meet the department manager the next week. After that, I moved on to the final round interview about a week later, meeting the team lead and department manager. The department manager was super friendly and asked most questions. The team lead, though, seemed totally checked out and barely spoke to me, which kinda threw me off. I guess that made me not really care about the job anymore because I figured the environment would be passive-aggressive. I was happy to reach the final round at Fannie Mae, but I was cool with them picking someone else. I really think they pick people based on who they like rather than who's capable, but hey, that's how it is. Just gotta hope they like you, I guess.

The interview process began with a phone screen that included some behavioral questions. Following that, there was a 1st round interview that lasted 45 minutes and featured both a behavioral section and a case interview. The final round consisted of two consecutive 45-minute interviews, both of which were case interviews. One of these involved a single case, while the other had two cases. The behavioral questions touch on your knowledge of the Fannie Mae business, your previous work experience, and your data handling experience. The case interviews become more challenging as you progress, and a calculator is permitted. You'll encounter a lot of financial graph interpretation and calculations, along with questions about how you'd gather and analyze data. The whole process was quite fast, taking about 3 weeks. They kept me informed promptly, with decisions or notifications about moving forward arriving within 2-3 business days after each interview. If rejected after the final round, the recruiter personally calls before sending a generic rejection email, which was a nice touch. The interviews were mainly conducted by Senior or Lead Data Science Associates who have been with the company for about 5 years. I found the process to be very fair. Preparation for the cases is difficult as they aren't typical management consulting cases, so it's best to be ready to think on your feet and explain your reasoning clearly. The actual calculations in the cases were fairly simple (mostly algebra), so don't stress too much about the math.

Technology Intern
Considering it's a great company and the internship is well-regarded, the interview was quite straightforward. The first round consisted of basic behavioral questions. The second round was a mix of technical and behavioral questions, but they were relatively easy. The interviewer was understanding and didn't try to trick candidates, even allowing for extra time or overlooking minor errors.

The interview is in two rounds. We want to see how much you know about AWS services and CI/CD pipelines. We'll talk about designing cloud infrastructure, automating stuff, and how to deploy things with AWS tools. You should be able to show us you can build and run systems that scale, are secure, and work well. We'll focus on AWS services like EC2, S3, Lambda, and EKS, and also on automating pipelines, connecting them, and deploying to different places. We'll check your technical problem-solving and how you'd use this in the real world.
- Can you describe the AWS platform pipeline and the monitoring tools used for it?
