Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fannie Mae.
Accounting Specialist
A recruiter reached out to me first to screen my qualifications. Then I had a phone interview with the Director of the department. After that, I went in for an in-house interview where I met individually with the 2 Directors and 2 VPs in the department. All of the interviews were behavioral.
- Could you describe your experience with consolidation accounting?
Accountant
The interview process was super professional and they communicated really well. I really liked the recruiter I worked with throughout the entire process. There was only one round of interviews, which consisted of two directors and two managers (one of them was the hiring manager). Most of the questions were about fit and getting me to explain my work experience. The recruiter called me back within two hours with an offer, and I accepted.
- Could you please walk me through your resume?
- What drives you to come to work each day?
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage a conflict and the resolution you implemented?
Accountant
It was three rounds of interviews. Started with a recruiter chat, then two interviews with a manager or director. These later ones involved behavioral and case study type questions. Felt like a normal conversation during the interviews.
- Tell me about a time you faced a challenge at work and how you overcame it.
