First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Estée Lauder Companies.
Research and Development Intern
The Superday interview was a standard group interview where they asked baseline questions to evaluate each candidate's skills and problem-solving abilities. However, my second round interview was quite different from the guide ELC provided. It mainly consisted of my interviewer asking me about school and my interests, which actually made it harder for me to talk about my previous experience and left me feeling unprepared.
- Can you tell me about some skin care products you like and explain your reasons?
Analyst
It was a 3 round interview process. The first round was with HR, who was very unprofessional and seemed to be only focused on her KPI. The interview was online, and she was yawning and playing on her phone the whole time. She asked a few questions and ended the call quickly. The next round was with the Hiring Manager, and the final round was with the Hiring Manager's superior.
- Can you summarize your previous work experience?
- What prompted your departure from your last position?
Director
It was a 5-round interview process. They asked behavioral questions and gave me hypothetical scenarios to check my leadership skills and how I make decisions. The last interview with the hiring manager's boss was tough, she really dug into my past experiences and asked how I would plan to tackle problems in the first 30 days.
- Can you share an instance where a project you worked on failed, and explain how you managed to salvage the situation and the lessons you took away from it?
- Tell me about a time you experienced a project failure and how you recovered.
- What's your strategy for addressing challenges during your initial 30 days on the job?
FP&A Manager
This interview experience was really bad. The HR person was super unprofessional and rude. The job description seemed misleading, especially about the bonus which was just standard but they made it sound like a big deal. The hiring manager wasn't great either, seemed fake and the role's credibility was doubtful. Even though it was a 'Manager' title, there were no direct reports, so the title felt like an exaggeration. Honestly, one of the worst interviews I've had. Candidates should be wary and not expect a professional or honest hiring process.
- Can you share an instance where you influenced stakeholders outside of finance?
