First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Deutsche Bank.
Vice President
It was part of a walk-in where many women were called to their Bangalore office for what was supposed to be a Coding round. After waiting for two hours, the exam started on a platform called Codility. We were then told to go for lunch. After lunch, candidates were called out one by one. Those who didn't make the cut were told to leave after we handed over our resume hard copies. It is quite surprising that in today's world, an online assessment like this could not be done remotely. This would have saved a lot of time for everyone, especially for senior folks with 12+ years of experience.

Vice President
It was a walk-in drive on a Saturday where I had to bring my own laptop. First, there was an online Codility test. Then, a technical round followed by another techno-managerial round, both on the same day. The following week, an online fitment round with the hiring manager was scheduled. After clearing all these rounds, I received a congratulations email requesting documents, followed by an HR round. However, the HR team was quite slow with updates, requiring me to follow up via email or calls each time. A month has passed since document collection and salary negotiation, and the offer still hasn't been released, with HR providing new timelines for the offer each time.

Mainframes Modernization Consultant
Deutsche Bank HR reached out to me on Feb 12th and set up an interview for Feb 16th, 2026. The first technical interview kicked off right on time, which was great. We jumped straight into the technical details. HR mentioned it was for a Mainframes Modernization Consultant role, but the interviewer clarified it was actually a Mainframes Architect position. I was okay with this since I have a strong background: 2 years as a Developer, 4 years in Support, and 7 years as an Admin and DBA. The interviewer, who seemed to be a lady, asked a lot of questions from a mainframe architecture standpoint, or so I thought.
- Regarding a program accessing a file with millions of records in a large bank, how can the process be accelerated?
- What are the reasons for migrating to the cloud?
- What are the reasons an organization might hesitate to move to the cloud?
Senior Backend Engineer
The interview process had 4 rounds and was pretty structured and technical. Round 1 was a HirePro Technical Screening covering Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and mid-level DSA/coding, focusing on fundamentals and problem-solving. Round 2 was a face-to-face Technical/Coding round where I coded live on my laptop using Java/Spring Boot/Microservices based on a given requirement, with enhancement scenarios provided afterwards. This tested real-world coding and design skills. Round 3 was a Project Fitment Technical Discussion based on the API/system from Round 2, focusing on performance, edge cases, LLD, HLD, scalability, and architecture. They assessed system design knowledge and project experience. Round 4 was HR Fitment. Overall, it was very practical and technical, particularly Rounds 2 and 3, with a strong emphasis on real coding, system design, and performance, rather than just theory.
- If a GET API request body contains 50,000 products, would you accept it?
- Okay, if it were a POST request, would you handle the processing synchronously?
- What measures would you take if some of the records encountered failures?
