First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Deutsche Bank.
Investment Banking Analyst
This was the first round, a one-on-one interview. They were trying to see if you could do the day-to-day tasks without needing a lot of training. They didn't ask too many technical questions, but instead focused on whether you could handle the job itself, not just your general qualities. The vibe was pretty serious and professional. Everything was in Chinese, not English.

Investment Banking Analyst
You'll face a lot of behavioral questions, plus a good amount of technical stuff, especially Excel and financial analysis. It's best to apply early because spots fill up fast. Interviews are usually back-to-back with few breaks, so get ready for an intense day. Which group or team you end up with can change each year depending on the product and coverage groups.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Investment Banking Analyst
After a spring conversion, I went through two interview stages. The first was an online assessment, and the second involved three separate 45-minute interviews. These interviews covered competency, a case study, and technical knowledge. It was pretty standard for investment banking roles, including mental math, company-specific knowledge, and typical IB technical questions like valuation methods.
- Can you explain a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis to me?
- What are your mental math capabilities?
- What do you know about our company?
