First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CNA.
Director
I applied online and about a week later, a recruiter reached out via email to schedule an HR call. After that went well, I was quickly scheduled for a first-round interview with the hiring manager. Soon after, I was contacted for a second round with a panel of two interviewers. While that round went well, I sensed something was off. About a week and a half later, I received a rejection email stating that 'Others more closely suited…' I was disappointed, expecting a more personal call after progressing so far, rather than a standard rejection email.

Finance Intern
I applied for CNA’s Finance/Accounting Summer Internship in early September and also did the online video interview using HireVue. At first, things seemed to be going well, and communication was fast. I even noticed activity from a recruiter on LinkedIn soon after I submitted the video interview. However, after that, there was silence for nearly seven weeks. I sent a follow-up email, but got no reply. It turned out the recruiter I was working with had left the company, and no one was assigned to handle her candidates. It wasn’t until I followed up again that I heard back from her replacement, who confirmed that they had moved on with other candidates. It’s frustrating that my application might have been in limbo during this transition. This lack of openness is disappointing, especially considering the effort I put into preparing for the HireVue interviews.
- Can you share an instance where you collaborated with a team?
Billing and Collections Manager
The whole interview process was done over the phone and then two virtual interviews with the hiring manager and then their manager. The first interview was with an HR recruiter, and they asked some basic questions about the role and if I had the relevant skills. It lasted about 30 minutes. The interview with the hiring manager was an hour long, and we went through various questions about my past roles, relevant skills, and experience. Finally, the last interview was under an hour and included more questions about the role and if I thought I would be a good fit for the job requirements.

Senior Premium Auditor
Got in touch with a recruiter who set up an initial call. The recruiter was really nice and seemed excited, saying I'd be a great fit and would hear back by the end of the week, maybe sooner. I didn't hear back until the next week though, when she scheduled a second interview via Teams with two managers. During that second interview, the managers weren't very friendly and didn't seem engaged at all. One did most of the asking, while the other mentioned they had no questions. They said I'd hear back by the end of that week. I never got a response, which wasn't a total shock given how they acted, but it definitely felt like a sign to avoid this company.
