First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CNA.
Software Engineer Intern
The interview process was really good! First, there was a behavioral chat with the recruiter where we discussed company values and some typical behavioral questions. It really felt like they care about their interns. Then, there was a technical part where they asked common Java-related questions.
- Could you introduce yourself?
Software Developer
The interview focused heavily on technical skills. They started with questions about technical theory, then moved into a code analysis part. Standard behavioral questions were also asked, though they weren't as memorable. I got through to a second round and even had an appointment scheduled, but they ended up canceling, saying the internship program was canceled for the year. I'm not sure if that was actually the case.
- Can you explain what a restful API is?
- What is the functionality of this Java code snippet?
- Explain why inheritance is useful.
Software Engineer Intern
First, there was a video response round where I was asked some basic behavioral questions. Then, the second step was a 45-minute technical interview, specifically in Java. The interviewer did ask about my preferred language, but then proceeded with Java questions. If I passed that round, the final step was an in-person interview at their Chicago office, which involved several interviews covering both technical and behavioral aspects.
- Theoretical programming questions
- Understanding the given java code and explaining it.
- Correcting the mistakes in the code.
