Product Manager
The interview process was quite drawn out. It began with a recruiter contact, followed by discussions with a hiring manager and a technology director. The final stage involved an interview loop with four colleagues. While the interviewers were professional and knowledgeable, the recruiter's disorganization and lack of follow-through negatively impacted my overall experience. Despite thorough preparation, the position was offered to another candidate, which is understandable in the current job market. However, I wish HR had shown more respect for my time.

I wanted to share my thoughts on this interview. I was excited about it, so it was a bummer how it went. The first call with the recruiter was fine and what I expected. But then, it took about a week and a half to get the next interview set up with the hiring manager. It was supposed to be 45 minutes, but it was only about 20. The hiring manager seemed rushed and just wanted to get through it, asking questions really fast with almost no back-and-forth. I didn't feel like they were trying to get to know me, and it wasn't a very welcoming or interesting conversation. Honestly, by the end, I wasn't sure if I even wanted to keep going. This isn't my first time interviewing with Chewy, and I've had similar experiences before. I'm sharing this because how candidates are treated really matters for how they see the company, and I think there's room to make the process feel more considered, more like a real conversation, and more in line with what the company values.

The recruiter experience was good and professional, but the first interview was not. The interviewer joined with her camera off and didn't introduce herself or her background. My camera was on the whole time. There was background noise, including a baby, during the interview. I asked for clarification because it was distracting, and she said her nanny was sick and she was working from home, which explained the camera being off. A brief pause or reschedule would have been better to ensure a fair interview. Several questions were actually multiple questions rolled into one, making them hard to answer clearly. The interview felt disorganized with unclear prompts and not much follow-up. The tone shifted after my second response, and the interview ended abruptly with 'That's it—any questions?'. Since she didn't introduce herself, I asked her role and background at the end, which she admitted she should have shared earlier. The experience made me concerned about communication, organization, and leadership, and didn't seem like a place that sets people up for success. I withdrew my application immediately after. Chewy should have basic standards for conducting interviews.

Client Concierge
I had a quick 20-min phone chat with the recruiter where we went over the job details, responsibilities, and pay. They asked some basic questions, like 'tell me about yourself,' mainly to check if I was a real person. After that, the usual plan was a 30-min Zoom call followed by a 30-min in-person interview. But, they mentioned they had some staff in town and could do a combined 1-hour in-person interview. This meeting happened at the vet clinic with the Director of Vet Operations and the Practice Manager.
- Describe a time you disagreed with a coworker and how you handled it.
- Can you share an instance where you had to admit a mistake at work, and what steps did you take to prevent it from recurring?
