- Do you have experience with SQL?

This was honestly the worst interview process I've ever been through, super unprofessional. I really should've listened to the Glassdoor reviews and saved myself the time. Basically, if you're looking to be low-balled even when they know your salary expectations, and then get criticized for trying to negotiate that low offer, Chewy might be the place for you. They'll give you this whole sales pitch about how much they're growing, trying to convince you to accept their low offer. Plus, no 401k matching. The recruiter was really aggressive at first, but once I started negotiating, she basically disappeared. I never even got a formal written offer, even after accepting verbally. It was a truly awful experience, definitely not worth the drive or the time I put into it.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in Chewy?
Analyst
I had an initial HR phone screen, followed by two phone interviews with managers. Then there was a 3-hour panel interview, and after that, I was given two assignments to complete within 48 hours: a SQL test and a scenario-based question. The scenario question was a bit unclear and poorly written, so I had to ask for more details. Even though I thought the interviews went well and I worked hard on the assignments, the recruiter eventually said I couldn't be moved forward because my SQL skills weren't strong enough, which was surprising since I only missed one question on the test, especially since I was honest about my abilities from the start. It felt like a waste of time because my whole application seemed to depend on that one SQL question, and I was left confused and disappointed.
- What motivates you to join this company?
