First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Burberry.
Principal Engineer
The interview process involved three rounds. First, a system design round, which I passed. Second, an interaction with the team, where they liked me and I was cleared for the Director review. Third, I had an interview with the Director and a peer. No technical questions were asked in this round, as HR specifically told me to prepare nothing and just talk about my experience. After waiting almost a month, HR gave feedback that I lacked technical skills, which was incredibly frustrating.
- Can you describe a system design for an e-commerce platform, possibly using AWS?
Merchandising Assistant
I had 2 interviews, 1 of which included a task. I'm very disappointed with Burberry. After 2 time-consuming interviews, they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me I was rejected. Ghosting is unacceptable and says a lot about the company. Both interviews went over time, showing no respect for my schedule, and I was working during them. The interviewers were cold, and it didn't seem like a pleasant place to work. Do better.
- What motivates your interest in this position?
Merchandiser
It was a really welcoming and straightforward conversation and process. The whole thing went on for 3 steps before the final round of interviews where I met the future line manager. The HD team was very warm and professional. It didn't feel like an interview, more like a chat, and I got to choose between two positions.
- What is your motivation for joining this company?
Assistant Merchandiser
I applied online and heard back for a HR screening call 6 days later. It was a quick call, under 30 mins, with basic HR questions and a positive vibe. The only odd thing was they wouldn't share salary info. They told me what to expect next and when I'd hear back. A week after they said they'd email to set up a second interview, I still hadn't heard anything. I only found out I was rejected when I logged into the candidate portal, with no email notification at all, two weeks after the first call.
