First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brex.
Operations Analyst
This is for the operations analyst rotational program. The process starts with a screening interview, then a staff interview, followed by a department manager interview, and finally a case study. The first step is a 30-minute phone call with a recruiter. It's not super technical, mostly about personality and values. They want to know if you share and demonstrate the founder mindset and if you live by Brex values in your experiences. If you do, try to weave that into your answers.
- Tell me about yourself and your background.
- Can you explain what Brex does and its significance?
- Could you provide an instance where you've utilized AI tools in your professional or academic life?
Sales Development Representative
It was a pretty standard SDR interview process. There was one round where I had to do a mock cold call and they gave me feedback and let me try again. The whole thing took a while and honestly felt like a waste of time, even though the recruiter was super nice and kept in touch. I made it to the final round, but the interviewer asked some really strange questions, like 'tell me about a time you challenged the norm.' He also seemed pretty checked out, like he didn't have his questions prepared and was just winging it. I felt a bit disrespected in that last interview, and ultimately, I didn't get an offer.
- Can you share an instance where you challenged the status quo?
Recruiter
The entire process took almost two months. Initially, the job was posted as a full-time position. After the recruiter screen, it was changed to a contract role. When I questioned this change, the recruiter claimed we had discussed it during the interview, which was not true. Despite the change, I proceeded with the interview process for the contract role. During the recruiter screen, I inquired about the interview process, and the recruiter vaguely stated there would be 2-3 additional rounds, which also turned out to be inaccurate. For a contract position, I ended up speaking with a total of 8 people, which felt excessive. After the final round, the recruiter mentioned that if all went well, I would have a 15-minute meeting with the head of the department, which seemed quite unusual for a contract role. Overall, it was a very negative candidate experience.

Solutions Consultant
So after applying, there was a hiring screen that was pretty straightforward and the recruiter was super helpful and guided me through the whole thing. Then I had an interview with the Hiring Manager for the role. After that, there was a panel interview where I met with 4 people over 2 days: the CS/Solutions Director, Sales Director, Implementation Director, and a senior solutions consultant. The recruiter actually emailed me with the questions to prepare a week in advance, so the interviewers basically just went through those exact questions which made it pretty easy. They were all really personable too.
