Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brex.
Recruiter
The entire process took almost two months. Initially, the job was posted as a full-time position. After the recruiter screen, it was changed to a contract role. When I questioned this change, the recruiter claimed we had discussed it during the interview, which was not true. Despite the change, I proceeded with the interview process for the contract role. During the recruiter screen, I inquired about the interview process, and the recruiter vaguely stated there would be 2-3 additional rounds, which also turned out to be inaccurate. For a contract position, I ended up speaking with a total of 8 people, which felt excessive. After the final round, the recruiter mentioned that if all went well, I would have a 15-minute meeting with the head of the department, which seemed quite unusual for a contract role. Overall, it was a very negative candidate experience.

So there were 2 phone screens, and then an onsite. The onsite had 4 separate 1:1 interviews with people from different levels, all the way up to Head of Talent. They asked about different things like XFN collaboration, subject matter expertise, and negotiating offers.
- Can you describe your process for a kick-off meeting?
- What are your strategies for partnering with hiring managers?
- How do you leverage data to influence hiring managers and leadership?
Recruiting Coordinator
I applied via Lever and heard back from a recruiter about a week later for a 30-minute chat about my background and the job. By the end of that call, they asked me to come in for an onsite interview. The onsite involved meeting 3 team members who asked behavioral/competency questions. The recruiter who did the initial phone screen then finished up the onsite, which lasted about an hour and a half. They mentioned I'd hear back by mid-next week, but I was surprisingly updated that same evening about scheduling a coffee chat with the lead recruiter. After the lead recruiter got my thoughts on the position, she extended an offer. Overall, the process was great; the interview felt conversational, and everyone was really welcoming and inspiring.
- Can you describe yourself in three words and elaborate on your choice?
