BlackBerry Interview Questions
& Process

I applied through a recruiter for the position with BlackBerry QNX. The process was about two weeks long. I was given a take home assessment, a basic C / C++ coding challenge, and a posix binary test automation example. In the interview with the hiring manager, I was asked mainly theory questions and knowledge of Linux and posix, then I was asked to present my coding assessments. Overall the interview process was easy.

It was pretty straightforward. Started with some tools questions, then typical HR stuff. Then they threw in some scenario questions, like asking how I'd handle X or if I'd experienced Y. Also asked about my experience working in a team. Ended up having three interviews in total.

I applied on the company's career website and then got an email to schedule an interview with the Engeniring team. I only had one interview with the Engeniring developers, and it was mostly behavioral questions and some questions about my past experience. A few days later, I received a standard email saying they decided to move forward with other candidates. I sent an email asking for feedback about the interview and never got a response.

So, the interview process at BlackBerry was pretty solid and professional. It kicked off with a screening call, where they asked about my background, my experience in security ops, and if I understood what a SOC Analyst does. After that, I had a technical interview with a panel. They hit me with some scenario-based questions to see how I solve problems and if I knew my security stuff, tools, and procedures. In that technical interview, they wanted me to explain how I'd handle detecting, responding to, and mitigating incidents. They also asked about using SIEMs and my knowledge of threat intelligence. The interviewers were sharp and mixed in technical and situational questions, which was good because I could show off my technical skills and also my soft skills like communication and teamwork.
