First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BlackBerry.
Software Test Engineer
It was a quick interview process. I got a reply after 16 days of applying. I got an email for an interview. It was an online video interview because of Covid19. Two people interviewed me. It took 30 minutes. After the interview, I received a positive response email within 10 minutes.
- What is your reason for wanting to work at Blackberry?
- Can you elaborate on your previous work experience?
- Could you describe the projects you have been involved in?
Test Engineer
I found the job posting online and applied on their website. An HR rep reached out first and asked the usual HR questions. Then, they set me up for the actual interviews. The first round was a phone interview with field engineers. About 3-4 engineers asked a lot of technical questions, while about 3 others just listened. They asked mostly technical questions and some HR-type questions too. The second round, they flew me to their HQ for a panel interview and a 1-on-1 with the executive director. The HR team arranged a morning flight in and an afternoon flight out, with car service to and from the airport. Both interview sessions were technical, so you really need to know your stuff. Everyone I met was very nice and very technical. I met a lot of people in a very short time. It seemed like a great place to work.
- What would you do if your phone had no signal?
Software Test Engineer
First there was a phone call with HR. HR told me to prepare for C/C++ interviews. But the second interview was all about Software Testing, Kernel stuff, Networking, and Routing Protocols. It felt easy. But they wanted textbook answers, which I don't recall. They didn't ask me about myself, just a list of questions.
- Questions on Software Testing
- Questions on the Kernel
- Questions on Networking
