First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BlackBerry.
Technical Product Manager
It was a really thorough and interesting interview process. I had phone interviews with the recruiter, the hiring manager, a senior director, and two other TPMs. After those phone interviews, they flew me to Waterloo, ON for a full day of meetings. Some were one-on-one, a couple were group interviews, and then there was dinner. It felt like a good mix of experiences, covering technical, strategic, and visionary topics. By the end, I felt like I really figured out if BlackBerry was a good fit for me, and if I was a good fit for them.
- What have been the most innovative contributions to telecommunications, especially with unified communications, in your opinion?
Product Manager
RIM was recruiting Product Management interns on campus. My resume was selected and I was interviewed by a panel of 2 people: an MBA recruiter and a Product Marketing Manager. The interview lasted about 30 minutes and focused on how my experience related to Telecom and Marketing. It seemed like RIM views Product Management as more of a Marketing role, which affected their hiring and job requirements.
- Tell us about your long term goals and how RIM aligns with them.
- What are the main challenges facing the Telecom industry?
Product Manager
It took a while to hear back after applying, but I really liked the hiring manager. Then I had follow-up chats with some of the other PMs and the engineering team. The final step was a presentation for the executives. I ended up meeting with 7 people in total before they made an offer.
- Can you tell me about your experience working with Agile methodologies?
