& Process

It started with a recruiter reaching out, then I had a chat with the VP of engineering about the company and its growth. After that, I got a take-home technical test that I had 72 hours to complete. Later on, there were more rounds: going over my work history and background with the recruiter again, doing technical and behavioral interviews with the data engineering leaders and team, talking with the product manager, and finally a casual chat with the CTO about the company culture and future. The whole thing took a while, from early January to early March, but all the talks were super informative and really showed me what the company's culture and mission are all about. The team was really nice and made me feel welcome the whole time. It was a good and open experience.

The whole experience was pretty good. The recruiter was super involved, always keeping me in the loop and making sure I knew what to expect. I got feedback really fast after each interview, usually the same day, which made things feel open and quick. Even though there were five rounds, it all went by fast. After each one, the next interview was usually set up within a day or two. The whole thing was organized well, and the questions they asked were smart and obviously related to the job. The interviewers were great too. It felt more like a chat than an interrogation.

So I had 3 rounds for the frontend engineer role. The first two were technical. The first technical round covered DSA, specifically linked lists, and also touched on React and security. The second technical round was more theoretical, focusing on a design question using frontend technologies. The final round was with the CTO, which was quite disappointing. They didn't have the budget to match my previous salary and were trying to offer ESOPs with a reduced cash component. I followed up with HR three times, and after two months, I got an email saying I wasn't selected because they found better candidates. The role was remote for the first year, then in-office in Bangalore. Apparently, the tech team is moving from China to India due to US regulations. The salaries offered were lower than expected, especially considering their recent $450 million funding.

My interview process with YipitData was really great. Everyone I talked to had good energy, was enthusiastic, and genuinely loved what YipitData is doing. They weren't just checking my skills, they really wanted to know me, how I work, and if I'd fit their culture and business. After talking to them, they were super helpful and answered all my questions. They communicated well throughout the whole thing - fast, clear, and totally honest, which made it all feel easy and simple. It’s not often you feel this supported and respected during interviews. It was an amazing experience, and I can't wait to start working with everyone!
