Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at YipitData.
Account Executive
You'll have 7 interviews total. It kicks off with 2 conversational behavioral interviews. After that, you'll do a mock sales pitch where you have to engage with an adversarial prospect. They're testing how well you can discover needs and push the prospect more than usual. Then comes a super day with 4 interviews back-to-back. The interviewers come with really specific questions about your sales experience, so be ready with examples and case studies. The team mostly just wants to grill you and find any inconsistencies, not really get to know you.
- Can you explain your interest in YipitData?
- What's prompting your decision to leave your current position?
- Describe a situation where you successfully managed a deal with multiple stakeholders.
Business Development Executive
The interview process was really long and kind of a pain. First, there were two rounds with a manager and an existing BDE. If you got through those, you had to do an email exercise and a role play. Then, if you passed that, it was a round robin with six people from different departments. After all that, I got an offer, but the compensation wasn't what the manager had told me verbally. Also, I was supposed to be remote, but they didn't mention upfront that because the company's HQ is in New York, I'd have to pay New York taxes due to new telecommuter laws. You can only avoid this tax if you work out of a specific hub office, but the closest one was just a shared workspace with limited desks that was first come, first served. On top of that, Yipit wasn't going to cover a $240 monthly parking fee or a $20 fob access fee. Basically, there were a lot of mix-ups and not enough clarity about the tax situation for remote work with a New York-based company.
- Tell me about a goal you set and achieved.
- What's a skill you have that you don't enjoy using?
- Can you outline your approach to prioritizing which accounts to focus on?
Business Development Executive
It was a really solid interview process, and they let us know that upfront. The HR and Business Development teams stayed in touch, giving quick feedback on what worked and what didn't, so I always knew where I stood and if I was moving on. Everyone was super friendly and asked good questions, plus they shared a lot of info and offered to help out later on. Even though it was long, it was to make sure everyone fit the YipitData culture.
- What's your motivation for wanting to join YipitData and what unique value would you contribute?
- What are your career aspirations for the next 5 and 10 years?
