YipitData has a structured and very communicative approach to interviewing. They provided background info on the company prior to the interview and details about the YipitData team member who would be conducting the interview. The interview process starts off with a "gating" assignment where you have to analyze a small dataset and prepare a concise summary report. If you make it to the next round, there is an interview with a YipitData team member to discuss your experience and interest in the role. If you make it past that round, there is a larger dataset that must be analyzed and summarized.

Technical Behavioral Coding

The interview process was pretty thorough but not over the top. First, there was a quick excel project where I had to analyze a dataset and find interesting insights. Then, I had a Zoom call with a Data Consultant from Yipit. This was mostly behavioral, just to get more info about the role. After that, there was a longer take-home assignment (a week) to look at a large dataset and project financial stats. This dataset had some tricky parts, so cleaning and analysis were needed. Next, I had two more Zoom calls with other Data Consultants. Then, a Zoom interview with a leader, who was a VP. Finally, there were reference checks where I provided three professional colleagues to talk about working with me.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process started with a 1-hour assignment, followed by a first-round interview (in person/zoom). Then there was a week-long assignment, and finally a final-round interview (in person/zoom). The company was easy to reach out to, but there were several miscommunications and missteps along the way. For instance, a recruiter call that was supposed to happen didn't, and there were incorrect email outreaches and false leads. The interview itself was a bit uncomfortable at times.
