The interview was pretty structured with a few parts. First, we had a chat to go over my background and why I was interested. Then, there was a deeper dive based on a business case. I also had to put together and give a 2-hour presentation, about 50 slides, to show I really knew my stuff, thought logically, and could communicate clearly. The case involved making revenue predictions, figuring out how to bring products to market, and outlining how I'd pick what to do first and work with other teams. It felt professional and organized, but it was definitely a lot of work analytically and strategically.

I had a really awkward initial screening with a recruiter who reached out to me. The questions were pretty standard, but their reactions were bizarre. I asked about the number of interview rounds, and it seemed like they took it personally. I asked for feedback, and about a week later, I got a passive-aggressive email with no useful information. It's understandable that companies have different processes, but a recruiter reacting strangely while taking notes manually isn't very professional, especially since they aren't using AI for notes in the AI field.

The hiring process for that Project Manager gig has three steps. First, you chat with HR for like 30 minutes—they ask about your experience, leadership style, and how you fit with the team. It’s pretty chill but in-depth. Then, they send you a business case to tackle, like planning a project with timelines and risks. You get a couple of days to nail it. Finally, you have a big interview with the higher-ups, diving into your skills and the case you submitted. If it goes well, they talk offer details right there. Solid process, honestly!

We had several rounds: first an HR call that went over time from 30 to 70 min. then a 90 min call with 2 engineers (staff and EM) to dive deep into past experiences. After that, a take-home assignment due in 7 days, requiring production-grade code with attention to packages, logging, resilience, and tests; it was tested against their suites and I was told passing all is rare. Then, a system design round (90 min) where 2 senior/staff engineers reviewed the take-home, asked unrelated tech questions, and gave a system design problem to prepare. Finally, a 60 min interview with a VP of Engineering or Director. The whole process was very professional, with good feedback and responsive HR. Overall a great experience.
