I interviewed for an audit manager role, which was unexpectedly very technical given my extensive experience. I applied because I'm currently unemployed. I didn't understand any of the questions as it wasn't my area of expertise, but after withdrawing, I was told I had strong technical skills but was too senior. Weeks later, an executive director contacted me about his stepping-down role, asking if I was interested in interviewing for his replacement. I assumed it would be more managerial, but it was still technical, aiming for an executive director level replacement. Thankfully, they rejected me, recognizing I was too senior for a manager role and wouldn't stay long-term for the offered low pay. I am currently a director and assumed the role was director or executive director level, which was my mistake for not asking. The recruiter was very vague during the initial call, seemingly unsure about the department's situation.

It was a brief intro, then they asked me about my projects and some finmath stuff like martingale and brownian motion. They also asked C++ OOP questions, which I think are important to prepare for. Then we discussed Pricing Theory and why I want this job. Honestly, it wasn't too tough, but they really dig into your project details and C++ OOP is key. Don't stress if you can't answer everything.

The interview process was pretty structured and professional, really showing the bank's focus on compliance, client service, and all those regulatory things. First, there was an HR screening where we talked about my background, why I wanted the job, and what I was looking for. Then, I had technical interviews with the hiring manager. We dove into AML/KYC knowledge, how I handle clients, and some practical scenarios that fit the role.

Had two 30-min interviews with 2 interviewers each, one senior and one current GTP. They did a resume walkthrough and asked me to explain technical concepts like what a linked list is, if python is static, etc. Didn't have Hackerrank. Didn't like the interviewer, was kinda mean and snarky, and condescending.
