Web UI UX Designer
I went through 4 rounds for a design position. It started with a practical test that I passed, then a technical interview with a senior designer offshore, and finally a round with the onshore design head. Everything seemed to go well, but there were big delays of 15-20 days between stages. I followed up with HR for about a month and they said the new onshore design head needed more time. After waiting a month, I was told the onshore design head thought my portfolio wasn't strong enough. It felt like a ridiculous reason. The whole process was quite disappointing, especially the lack of openness and timely updates from the onshore design head. I did appreciate the offshore team for their quick feedback and professionalism.
- Tell me about your experience with design systems.
Communications Consultant
I was contacted by HR Talent Acquisition for a 30-minute Zoom call. I was on time, but the HR person was late and cited technical issues. The interview was short, under ten minutes. The interviewer kept challenging my qualifications, focusing on my lack of direct experience and bringing up old work history from outside the industry. They seemed defensive when I questioned the relevance of these outdated experiences. I ended up withdrawing my application because it felt unprofessional. This was surprising coming from a competitor.
- Were you asked about your comfort with the commute and your desired salary range?
- The interviewer questioned and challenged my professional experience, including referencing outdated work history (5+ years ago, non-industry) as a basis for qualification concerns.
Graduate Engineer Trainee
First there was a test online. Then I had a technical interview. After that, it was an HR/technical interview. It was an on-campus interview so it was pretty easy. My interviewer was really nice and made me feel comfortable before starting the questions. It was more of a discussion than a Q&A.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Tell me about your internship experience.
- Can you solve this Data Structures and Algorithms question?
VP Talent Acquisition
It started with an initial screening by an executive recruiter, then a one-on-one with the manager, and finally a group interview with three other people. Everything was great until the group interview part. The three interviewers in that session seemed like they just did a quick Google search for generic behavioral questions, split them up, and then read them for the first time live during the interview. They'd take a minute or more to ask each question and wouldn't ask follow-ups or really discuss the topic. It was very different from the previous interviews, which were conversational. This group interview felt cold and made me not want to work there.
- Could you describe your leadership philosophy, its impact on your colleagues, and the outcomes?
