First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Clorox Company.
Packaging Operator
First, there was a phone screen with the recruiter where they asked basic questions like why I want to work for the company and some situational questions. After that, I had an in-person interview with the hiring manager and the team leads. Once they made an offer, it took about 2-4 weeks to finish everything, which included a typical background check, drug screen, and a physical exam before I could start.

The process was 3 steps: a phone screen, an onsite interview with 3-4 panelists (one per hour), and any virtual interviews needed (additional 1hr/panelist). It took about 4 weeks total to get the final decision. It was pretty smooth, and the same 2 HR people helped me with the introductions and scheduling.
- Can you start by introducing yourself?
- What interests you about Clorox and this specific team?
- Describe a situation where you successfully resolved a workforce management issue.
R&D Intern
I first chatted with two recruiters from Clorox at my school's career fair. They did a sort of pre-screening, where the first asked about my resume and experience. Then, a second recruiter did a quick technical interview where I had to analyze one of Clorox's products. Later that day, around 8:30 PM, I got an email asking me to drive an hour for an interview the next morning at 9:00 AM. This interview lasted an hour and had two parts: the first was purely technical, involving hypothetical scenarios about their products. The second part was a mix of standard behavioral questions and more technical ones. A few weeks later, the interviewers contacted me about an offer, but five weeks after the interview, I got a rejection email. Some of their actions were pretty unprofessional, like telling me about the interview just 12 hours before, their communication after the interview was misleading considering the outcome, and the long wait for a rejection after such a tough process was unfortunate.
- Can you share an instance where you experienced failure?
- Describe a situation where you successfully navigated a challenge in your work.
- Suppose an ingredient in a Clorox product needed to be replaced, what aspects would you need to take into account?

I recently interviewed with Clorox, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet my expectations. The recruiter seemed disengaged during the conversation, making me feel uneasy and unsure about the process. I was told I would get an assessment as part of the next steps, but it never came, leaving me uncertain about how to proceed. Clear communication and professionalism are important for a good candidate experience, and this lack of follow-up, plus the recruiter's attitude, impacted my view of the company. I was impressed by Clorox before at an event, but this experience makes me hesitant to apply again. I hope this feedback helps improve things for others.
- Can you tell me about something you are proud of?
