First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Textron.
Intern
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It involved a single phone screening followed by another interview. The interviews focused on behavioral questions, like asking about a challenge I faced and how I overcame it, or a situation where I worked as part of a team. They also asked some questions about my background and resume.
- Can you share your experience working collaboratively in a team?
- Describe a situation where you faced a challenge and how you handled it.
- Could you tell me about a time you had to work with a team?
Electrical Engineer
I interviewed for Textron's GSE program. It started with a 30-minute phone call with a recruiter. Then, there was a 30-minute group panel with the management team. They really dug into my resume and wanted to hear about all my engineering projects. They seemed to prefer candidates with passion projects over just classroom assignments, always asking if something was done for a class or just for fun. It was a bit disappointing to get two rejection notices, one saying the position was canceled and another saying someone else was chosen. The lack of clear communication really affected my experience.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Textron?
- Can you elaborate on your engineering projects?
- Did you complete this project as part of a course or out of personal interest?
Mechanical Engineer
My interview was way more chill than others. It started with a recruiter call about logistics, no real questions. Then, a 30-minute online interview with basic behavioral questions. Honestly, it was the best interview experience I've had, and they kept me updated well afterward.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Tell me about specific resume projects.
- What professional interests do you have?
Intern
I had a phone call and then a virtual video call. The person who did the phone screen seemed to be on different page than the manager who did the video call. They never followed up after I reached out multiple times, which I found to be unprofessional.
- Can you explain how your previous experiences connect with the requirements of this role?
