Sales Associate
I interviewed for a Sales Assistant position, and it was a good experience initially. The staff were nice and made me feel comfortable. The questions were easy to understand and the whole thing felt professional. I was told that if I didn't hear back in a week, I didn't get the job. I asked if I'd get an email either way, and they said yes. But two weeks later, nothing. I had to call them myself to find out I wasn't successful. They said I should have gotten an email but didn't. They also said they can't give feedback because of too many applications. I get that, but people put time into applying. Not giving feedback and not following up properly isn't good business. It also doesn't fit with the diversity stuff companies talk about. Even if it was a tech issue, it's still unprofessional. They need better systems so this doesn't happen. The interview itself was fine, but good communication is important for trust and professionalism. Management should make sure candidates get the communication they're promised so they don't have to chase for updates.
- Tell me about your experience.
- What is your availability?
Sales Consultant
Got referred by a friend. The assistant manager and manager were friendly and took turns asking questions. They asked some simple questions, then had me do a roleplay to sell a collection to them. After that, they asked some admin questions.
- Can you share an instance where you provided excellent customer service?
- Describe a time you experienced outstanding customer service yourself.
- In this scenario, how would you approach selling these particular products to a customer?
Assistant Manager
I applied online and heard back pretty fast via email. The interview was super short, only about 10 minutes. They asked about 10 questions, mostly starting with 'Tell me about a time when...', and confirmed I was looking for full-time work since that's a requirement for the ASM role. I got a rejection email four days later from the store manager. I asked for feedback, and she said the main reason was my lack of retail experience, but that I seemed really professional.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage a customer's unreasonable request?
Human Resources Specialist
The interview process in Sydney was straightforward. It started with a basic screening call, followed by a single interview round with the hiring manager. Unfortunately, communication after the interview was poor; I only found out about my rejection four weeks after the interview, and only after following up twice. They had initially promised an update the same week I first reached out. This lack of timely response was unprofessional, and I suggest improving how candidates are kept informed.
- Can you describe your past experience handling disciplinary actions?
