Supply Chain Analyst
The recruiter contacted me to gauge my suitability for the role by asking some questions and my salary expectations. It was a quick process. My concern is that many skilled candidates might be overlooked because recruiters may not fully grasp the job's requirements and its military context. They inquire about specific logistics systems, unaware that on a military vessel, many internal systems leverage electronic data interchange. For instance, they ask about Nalcomis, which is an S-6 function, but its data flows into R-Supply and Onetouch Supply. If you've worked in S-1 Stock Control, you'd be reviewing technical data and clearing requisitions from the suspense file. While the screening was straightforward, I did not advance to the next stage.
- Have you had experience working with end users?
- Were you ever in a program management role?
- Could you list the military logistics systems you have experience with?
Data Engineer
First, there's an aptitude and skills assessment, which might be an online or written test, especially for campus hires. It covers aptitude, reasoning, and programming basics like Python to filter candidates with the necessary foundational knowledge. Then, there are case study and guesstimate rounds to check analytical and problem-solving skills. For the case study, you'll get a business problem and suggest a data-driven solution, usually in writing. The guesstimate involves making logical assumptions to estimate a real-world value, like guessing the number of Mother Dairy packets sold in Delhi.
- Tell me about your deep knowledge of project dependencies and tech stacks.
Customer Service Representative
The Serco interview was pretty standard, nothing really out of the ordinary. The interviewer was formal and kept their distance, making it feel a bit cold. They asked a lot about dealing with customer questions, sorting out disagreements, keeping things private, and being a good team player. There were also some questions asking what I would do in certain situations to see how I solve problems and talk to people, but nothing too crazy. It was professional, but felt a bit impersonal. It gave a clear idea of what the job involves, though it wasn't the most exciting experience.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
Customer Contact Officer
The whole thing took about two weeks. I put my application in online, which involved filling out and submitting a form. A few days later, I got an email asking me to answer some questions for an AI chatbot – I figured it was a screening step. After that, there was an online assessment with questions and scenarios you might face on the job. If I did well on that, I was invited to a group info session online via MS Teams. You had to go to this session to keep moving forward. Following the info session, someone from recruitment called within 24 hours to set up an interview. The interview questions were pretty standard.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you describe your past work experience?
- How has your previous experience prepared you for this Customer Contact Officer position?
