Business Analyst
So we had two parts to the interview. First was to check out your technical skills and how you solve problems. Second was to see if your values, work ethic, and lifestyle fit with our company culture.
- Tell me about your past experience and how it connects to this position.
Business Administrator
The interviewers were pretty nice and asked the typical competency questions, but then threw in some really hard ones with a lot of technical terms to try and trick me. It was disappointing and unprofessional that the recruitment team or interviewers didn't reach out after my interview to tell me if I was unsuccessful or give any feedback, even though they said I would hear back within a certain timeframe.
- What are your long-term career aspirations over the next five years?
Business Analyst
I was reached out to by a recruiter in England on a Saturday for a role in the Netherlands. They wanted me to get back to them ASAP, even over the weekend. I scheduled a call for later that week. They didn't share any details about the project or team, just my skills and salary expectations. Since it was a freelance role, they suggested a Dutch tax company to handle my finances for a monthly fee. This fee seemed way too high for a monthly service, more like a yearly rate. I found out the suggested tax company was basically a home office, which made me suspicious. When I said I could use my own tax advisor and get my freelance number myself, the recruiter pushed back, saying I absolutely needed my own company to move forward. But after I pushed, they changed their tune and said they could wait a few days. They asked for detailed work experience proof, which was extra work but supposedly would speed up the interviews. After I sent the documents, the recruiter kept contacting me, even late at night, for more details or to ask if I'd started my own company. This went on for two weeks without me ever speaking to a hiring manager or client. The recruiter used typical aggressive sales tactics, like creating urgency for a supposedly unique role and refusing to negotiate salary. The suggested tax advisor was the weirdest part. Then, they told me my profile wouldn't pass the managers because I lacked some specific software experience, and the recruiter ghosted me without any notice or thanks. This whole experience felt very unprofessional, so be cautious, especially if they suggest third-party advisors.
- What is your expected daily rate?
