Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Serco Group.
Software Developer
I had a phone screening with the recruiter, which went well. Then I had a Microsoft Teams interview with 2 leads and a Sr. Software Developer from the team where I just talked about my experience. The last round was an in person interview at their location in Alexandria, VA where I just met the team and they could ask me any questions that they had while looking at my resume, pretty informal. They were looking for someone who could "hit the ground running" for an entry-level software development position.
- Can you walk me through your resume and explain your experience?
- Are you familiar with C++ and Docker?
Technical Lead
Applied online after seeing the job advert on LinkedIn. Took 2 months to get a call for a telephone technical interview. The whole process was long and slow. What was worst was the number of recruitment agencies involved. Even after applying, about 10 different agencies called about the same role. It was very disorganised. Happy to say I didn't get an offer and won't consider them in the future.
- Can you explain the difference between High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD)?
- What are your ideas for improving IT infrastructure on a tight budget?
Software Engineer Trainee
First I had to do an online exam, after that I faced a technical interview, and finally, I had an HR round. After a few days, I received a response from the hiring team in my email whether I was selected or not.
- What programming languages do you work with?
- Basic questions about your background.
