Project Manager
The first interview was a phone call with HR and the hiring manager. They asked standard competency questions. It lasted about an hour. I was told I'd hear back in a few days for the second stage, which was scheduled for the next Monday. The hiring manager emailed me on Thursday to invite me to the second interview with his manager and HR. I had to prepare a 5-10 minute presentation on the 5 stages of project management. The second interview was on MS Teams with the director. It went well, but the director mentioned another strong candidate. I was told I'd know by midweek. I didn't hear back by Wednesday, and my follow-ups on Thursday and Friday with the recruiter were ignored. I ended up calling the hiring manager directly for feedback. I found out I was unsuccessful. The lack of communication from the recruitment team was frustrating.
- Could you define what a risk is?
- What's your approach to managing project profit or revenue?
- Can you outline the five stages of project management?
Project Controller
After submitting my application, I was sent a lengthy form to complete. This form included a clause requiring me to agree to a precontractual agreement that was neither provided nor attached. I requested more information about this precontract via email, but instead, I received a rejection letter. The entire process felt very unprofessional and rude. Apparently, interns were managing the selection process, which makes me question why ESA uses them for hiring contract agents instead of an internal system like the one used by the EU Commission. I strongly advise others not to waste their time with this company, as they are the most unprofessional recruitment agency working for ESA. They also uniquely asked for my ID, and I'm unsure of the necessity for this.
- Are you willing to sign a precontract you haven't reviewed?
Project Manager
It was a super simple and easy process. First, I had a filmed interview, and then I spoke with the manager. However, they never mentioned salary or benefits, which is something I'd expect to discuss early on. It seems like a good company to work for, and the interview process was very organised.
- Can you describe your experience in specific areas?
