First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Santander.
Intern
The interview process aimed to assess the candidate's profile, technical skills, and behavioral traits. It began with an initial contact to provide information about the company, the role, and its main activities. This was followed by questions about academic background, previous experiences, professional interests, and technical knowledge relevant to the area, which helped gauge the candidate's knowledge level and motivation. Behavioral questions were also asked to understand how the candidate handles challenges, teamwork, learning, and problem-solving, aligning the candidate's profile with the company culture. Finally, there was a Q&A session about the company, team, and internship activities, helping the candidate better understand the work environment and expectations. Overall, the process evaluated both technical knowledge and interpersonal skills for a comprehensive selection.

Data Engineer
3 phases interview for the Digital Services Cloud DE role: 1) A typical HR phone screening. 2) A technical online meeting discussion with the Head of the data team, covering experiences, challenges, and technical questions. 3) Another HR vibe-checking/fact-checking with the Head of People. I was discarded *online* before phase 2, even though I had a meeting booked. An email informed me my application was over, so I had to contact HR to confirm.

UX/UI Designer
I was contacted by a recruiter for a process at Santander. During the call, she asked why I wanted to change jobs, even though my CV clearly stated my previous project had ended, making it seem like she hadn't reviewed it. She assured me all candidates get feedback within one and a half to two weeks. I never heard back. A month later, I applied again for the same position and was contacted again. The conversation was almost identical: same questions, no mention of my previous application, and the same promise of feedback within the same timeframe. Again, no further communication. This pattern suggests disorganization, lack of follow-up, and disrespect for the candidate's time.
- What are the next steps?
- Can you explain your motivation for seeking a new role?
- Could you describe your experience?
Commercial Representative
First, I filled out a form they sent by email with several questions about my experiences and objectives. Then, there was a group interview with multiple stages, including a personal presentation, discussing objectives, and group activities. Finally, there was an in-person individual interview to assess my knowledge about the company, my work experience, and my commercial skills.
