Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Santander.
Intern
The interview process aimed to assess the candidate's profile, technical skills, and behavioral traits. It began with an initial contact to provide information about the company, the role, and its main activities. This was followed by questions about academic background, previous experiences, professional interests, and technical knowledge relevant to the area, which helped gauge the candidate's knowledge level and motivation. Behavioral questions were also asked to understand how the candidate handles challenges, teamwork, learning, and problem-solving, aligning the candidate's profile with the company culture. Finally, there was a Q&A session about the company, team, and internship activities, helping the candidate better understand the work environment and expectations. Overall, the process evaluated both technical knowledge and interpersonal skills for a comprehensive selection.
- Tell me a bit about yourself.
- Why were you interested in this position?
- What motivated you to choose your field of study?
Intern
The process was agile and smooth, with HR professionals who were well-prepared and never made the candidates feel anxious. It started with a logical reasoning test, followed by a first group activity with 6 candidates to solve a case about Gen Z and Santander Bank. Afterward, there was a second 'manager panel' activity with 9 candidates for 2 openings. Everything happened on the same day: the activities, the interview with the managers, and the approval.
- What makes you want to work at Santander?
- Could you tell us about challenging projects you undertook during college?

Intern
I applied for the Santander Onda 4 Internship Program. The initial tests were standard VAGAS website tests, and I also had to fill out two forms with additional information. I passed this to the group dynamics stage. The recruiter explained about the company and mentioned the internship could be for any affiliated Santander company, like F1RTS, Getnet, etc. I didn't really like the group dynamics experience; there were about 16 participants, and instead of breaking into smaller groups, all of us had to develop a case for individual and corporate Gen Z clients in 30 minutes! It was extremely disorganized and confusing, with too many people thinking at once, which led to no solutions. I've done other dynamics, and this was the most chaotic. Surprisingly, I passed the group dynamics stage and received an email saying they would look for opportunities for my profile and get back to me soon. About a week later, I got an email saying that unfortunately, no vacancy matching my profile was found. Honestly, I didn't like the experience; it just created hiring expectations for me. I was called for a process and passed the group dynamics without there actually being a role aligned with my profile. I tried contacting the Universia recruiter on LinkedIn but got no response.
- How can Santander become the primary bank for Gen Z clients (individual and corporate)?
