First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sam's Club.
Merchandising Lead
It was a two-stage interview. The first round was with a department manager where we talked about leadership experience, daily operations, and some scenario questions. The second round was with higher management, where we discussed expectations, workload, decision-making, and team leadership style. They mostly observed how I presented myself rather than asking direct questions.
- Can you share an instance where you led a team through a challenging situation, managed associate resistance, and successfully achieved operational targets?
Cashier
I wish I could go back in time and tell myself not to apply here. My interview experience was unprofessional. The manager didn't remember my name even though she set up the meeting. I had to initiate the handshake. The interview was under 15 minutes, and she mostly talked about the job, not giving me much chance to speak. It felt very one-sided. At the end, she just said 'Okay, bye' and turned away. I wasted time preparing for this interview and got a rejection email the next day. I'm glad I didn't get the job because I don't want to work with an unprofessional manager. They need to train their managers on how to interview.
- Can you tell me about your availability?
Bakery Team Member
You apply online either on the official careers page or on a page where the job is listed. Then, you'll see the available options and locations where there are openings. You'll need to fill out a form or upload your resume. After starting the process, they'll review your application, which might take a couple of weeks, and then they'll call you to schedule an interview.
- Why would you like to work with us?
- My availability
- How fast am I working under pressure?
Software Engineer
The interview process kicked off okay, but then we hit the system design part. First up was a phone call, which went fine. Then, a coding round with some technical questions and an easy LeetCode-style problem. The third round was about Salesforce technical stuff and included another coding problem—fair and relevant, all in all. But man, that last round, the system design interview, was a letdown. The interviewer cut me off mid-introduction. My background is clearly Salesforce development, yet he dove straight into Docker system design questions. It felt totally off for this role. Honestly, it felt like he'd already decided to pass, without even checking my experience. It’s super important that interviewers know the domain they're testing. This guy clearly didn't know Salesforce, making the whole thing feel unfair and pointless.
