Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sam's Club.
Sales Associate
It was a standard three-step process. First, the hiring team reached out to me to discuss the role and expectations. During our conversations, I was able to gain a clear understanding of what they were looking for in a candidate. This helped me align my experience and skills with their needs, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Can you tell me about your previous role and why you left it?
Sales Associate
First you gotta apply on the sam's club website, or maybe use a kiosk in some stores, but you should call first to check if they have one. If they don't hit you up after a few days, give them a ring and ask a manager about your application. If they're feeling it, they'll probably try to set up an interview for that same day or the next. You'll have two interviews: one with the store manager and another with the team lead for the electronics department. The day after, call them up to follow up on the interviews. If they're keen, they'll offer you the job right then and there.
- Can you describe your customer service experience?
- What's your knowledge of electronics?
- How flexible are you with your schedule?
Sales Associate
I applied and then heard back about two months later for an interview. The interview itself was okay, but their organization is really bad. I was supposed to have a second interview, so I called to follow up. Over a few phone calls, I kept getting passed around trying to reach someone. It went like this: the interviewer went on vacation for a week, so they told me to call back, then to speak to someone else, then another person, then said the interviewer was in a meeting and to call back, or they'd call me back. By the end, I wasn't even sure if anyone was actually in charge or if they really needed someone. Also, the manager is pretty strict about colored hair and body art, even dyed blonde hair is frowned upon.
- Tell me about how you'd deal with a tough situation involving an angry customer.
